This morning I woke up to a friend request on Facebook… Which is fairly odd because I just don’t use Facebook for anything other than stalking my enemies. But what was even more odd was that it was from a guy I used to date. Like 7 years ago. Seven? I think so, something like that.
Now, we’re not friends. We don’t talk, we don’t socialise. In fact, when he came to the pub I worked at two years ago, I did my very best to avoid him. Because of awkward. And here I was, with a friend request. Odd. But I’m old mature now, I can deal with this shazam.
So I accepted, and off to the gym I went.
One workout later, I went to check my facebook again (because seriously, what else would you do?), and NOTHING was appearing on my feed from him. Like, not even “people you might know”. So off I go on a stalk, and we’re not friends.
I check my friend requests just to see if this really happened. It did. He had friend requested me and I had accepted. But we are no longer friends.
I believe that THE WORST nightmare of the modern social environment happened; he was doing a casual late-night stalk and accidentally friend requested me. And to his dismay, I noticed it before he could accept.
So I know that he knows that I know that he was stalking.
This is one of the issues I have with facebook, Instagram and the likes. There you are, scrolling through the insta feed of an ex (or an enemy) and your finger slips…
I guess it’s just nice to know that this time it wasn’t me doing it…
