I always enjoy seeing these little roundups on how people live, so for the lack of better blogfodder, here’s how I normally spend my day!
6.15 am – my alarm starts ringing. In reality, I don’t get up until 6.45…
7.15 am – I’m finally awake enough to have showered & start doing my face. I will at the same time try to shovel something resembling breakfast in my face.
8.15 am – I leave for work & arrive at 8.30. Finding parking used to be a nightmare, but half the companies in my complex have gone bust, and you can see that in the lack of cars. The lease signs on the windows are a sad sight.
9.15am – morning meeting time. I spend this time catching up on nonessential emails & reconciling the banks.
10.15am – time for a cup of coffee, again. I reckon I drink closer to ten cups a day; essentially one an hour.
11.15 am – backing up the accounting files as I’m away to do upload some big journals and don’t want to get the IT helpdesk involved if I mess up…
12.15 am – finalizing some review points for our student
1.15pm – I inhale my lunch. I bring out a wee packed lunch to work each day; partly for diet reasons, partly because of money. (and the onsite cafe takes 45 minutes to bring out a sandwich)
2.15pm – I have some extra time so I help other departments in their stuff.
3.15pm – just reviewing figures… In an office where I’m not the youngest, I do feel like the child at times – all my desk accessories are pink and CHECK OUT MY STICKY NOTES!!!
4.15pm – there’s a reason I’m not qualified yet. Some things just stump me, so I need to read up on the intricacies of finance leases. Joys.
5.15pm – I leave work at five and get home at quarter past. I don’t walk through my front door until half past though because of inconsiderate assholes like this. There’s a space of 1/2 car (or 3/4 of a mini) in front of them and the curb in front of them. This is a recurring feature of my area; asshole parkers. Did I tell you that there was a weekend when my old car was bumped several times and no notes left? Yeah, that’s where I live!
6.15pm – I’m chilled, watching TV and blogging/researching.
7.15pm – time to cook! Broccoli pancakes & mince for tea!
8.15pm – we don’t have a dining table so all food will be balanced finely on knees & eaten in front of the TV. That’s how classy we are.
9.45pm – As I previously said, I’m practically a zombie if I don’t get my nine hours. So, bedtime is 10pm and depending on how tired I am, I drag myself to bed at any point between nine & ten (and not gonna lie, sometimes a tad earlier), Netflix is played on repeat until I fall asleep.
I know it’s not the most glamorous of lives I lead, but I enjoy it…
